About Krabi Airport

Krabi International Airport opened on 10 July 1999, about 7 km east of Krabi Town in the Nong Thale area. It replaced road and boat travel from Phuket and Surat Thani as the fastest way into the province, and international status followed as charter and regional flights grew.

Krabi is run by the Department of Airports (DoA), not Airports of Thailand (AoT), which handles Phuket and the six largest airports. It is the sixth-busiest airport in the country, handling 2,309,797 passengers in 2023, 2,589,636 in 2024 and just over 3 million in 2025, a jump of about 63 percent year on year.

Traffic is strongly seasonal, peaking in the dry Andaman high season from November to March and easing through the southwest monsoon from May to October. A single runway, 14/32 of around 3,000 m, and a terminal complex split into domestic and international sides handle everything from turboprops to charter jets. How to get from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang and the beaches

Krabi Town is only 7 km from the airport, but most visitors head to Ao Nang, 26 km and 30 to 45 minutes to the west, or on to the piers for Railay and the islands. There is no rail link. Several options connect the terminal to the coast, and prices in baht vary with comfort.

The airport shuttle bus is the cheapest way into town or to Ao Nang at ฿150 per person, running roughly hourly from about 06:00 to 20:00. For a direct trip, a fixed-fare taxi or private transfer takes you door to door, while a rental car is the most flexible option if you plan to explore the province.

Terminals and services

Krabi Airport has a single terminal complex split between a domestic side and an international side, sometimes labelled T1 and T2. Both are on one level and a short walk apart, so moving between a domestic and an international flight is straightforward.

In the November to March high season the international side is busy with charters and regional low-cost flights, so allow time at check-in and immigration. Car rental desks and the taxi and transfer counters sit in the arrivals area.
